May 11, 2026 | Spiritual Growth
You will never know God’s will if you ignore God’s Word.
If you’ve ever asked, “What is God’s will for my life?” you’re not alone.
Every day, we’re making decisions. Big ones. Small ones. Life-shaping ones. And in the middle of it all, we’re looking for clarity. Direction. Confidence that we’re doing the right thing.
But what if God’s will isn’t hidden?
What if it’s already been revealed?
Why God’s Word Is the Key to His Will
God hasn’t left you guessing about your life.
He’s given you His Word as a guide, not just for information, but for transformation. The Bible isn’t outdated or irrelevant. It’s alive, active, and designed to lead you into the life God created for you.
Think about it like this.
You wouldn’t try to build something complex without instructions. Yet many people try to live their lives without ever opening the manual.
God’s Word is that manual.
Not just rules to follow, but revelation to live by.
God’s Word Doesn’t Show You Everything, It Shows You the Next Step
One of the biggest misconceptions is that God will show you your entire future all at once.
But that’s not how He works.
“Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path.”
A lamp doesn’t light up the whole road.
It lights up the next step.
That means every day matters.
Every day in God’s Word gives you the guidance you need for that day.
- The next decision
- The next step of growth
- The next area God wants to shape
If you live this way consistently, you will eventually walk into God’s purpose for your life.
1. Read God’s Word Systematically
If you want to hear from God consistently, you need a consistent approach.
Random reading leads to random results.
“All Scripture is God-breathed and useful.”
Why a Plan Matters
Imagine going to the gym with no plan.
You just walk around, try a few machines, and hope for results.
It doesn’t work.
The same is true for your spiritual life.
You need a plan that helps you grow over time.
Simple Ways to Read the Bible
Here are a few practical approaches:
- Read cover to cover
See the full story of Scripture from beginning to end - Do a book study
Go deep into one book and understand it fully - Do a word study
Focus on a theme like peace, faith, or wisdom
The key is not which method you choose.
It’s that you choose one and stay consistent.
2. Read God’s Word Slowly
We live fast-paced lives.
But you cannot rush your time with God.
“You cannot microwave revelation from God.”
Abiding Means Remaining, Not Rushing
If you rush through Scripture, you’ll miss what God is trying to say.
God’s Word is meant to be:
- Reflected on
- Meditated on
- Applied personally
Some days will feel powerful and memorable.
Other days might feel quiet and routine.
But both matter.
Just like food nourishes your body daily, God’s Word nourishes your soul, whether you feel it or not.
What to Look for When You Read
As you read, ask simple questions:
- What is God showing me about who He is?
- What is He revealing about my life?
- What step is He asking me to take today?
This turns reading into relationship.
3. Read God’s Word With a Surrendered Heart
This is where everything changes.
Because you can read the Bible and still not be transformed.
“Don’t read the Bible to complete a task. Read it to be transformed.”
Information Doesn’t Change You, Application Does
It’s not enough to hear God’s Word.
You have to live it.
James 1 says that hearing the Word without doing it is like looking in a mirror and immediately forgetting what you look like.
Transformation happens when you apply what God shows you.
A Simple Daily Practice
One of the most practical ways to apply Scripture is the SOAP method:
- Scripture – What verse is God highlighting?
- Observation – What is happening in the passage?
- Application – What is God asking me to do?
- Prayer – Talk to God about it
This turns your time with God into something personal and life-changing.
The Goal: A Life Aligned With God
Here’s how it works:
- You start with God’s Word
- You begin to understand God’s ways
- And eventually, you walk in God’s will
It’s not complicated.
But it does require consistency.
Final Encouragement: Start Today
You don’t need a perfect system.
You don’t need hours of free time.
You don’t need to have it all figured out.
You just need to start.
Open your Bible.
Slow down.
Listen.
Apply what God shows you.
Because when you do, something powerful happens:
- Your soul gets fed
- Your steps get guided
- Your life begins to align with God
And over time, you’ll realize you’re no longer guessing your way through life.
You’re walking in the will of God.
